Your 108/113 is probably a pretty good bet on a short duration cam. You can get
away with running a longer cam set if you bump up the lobe centers to get rid of
the overlap. I run cams with over 260 degrees of duration @ .050" on my blown
alky Kaw, but I set the lobe centers at 116/118. I need more duration to get
the lift to take advantage of the cylinder head (it flows about 100 cfm max. @
10" H2O on the intake side with 38.6mm valves). She really buzzes on top end
and hits the rev limiter at 11,000 rpm going through the traps still making
power - something you don't normally get on a 1394cc KZ.

You might try your #118 Web-cams with slightly higher lobe centers and then you
wouldn't have to spend any money. Still, they only lift .365" and are 246
degrees long @ .050", so I would think you could benefit from more cam. They're
definitely not too long in duration. Your power fading is probably a function
of not enough breathing through the head on a 1327. We ran grind number 109
(.425" lift/260 degrees @.050") once on a 1327 ATP-turbo KZ and made 246 Hp max.
on turbo alone and 310 HP/198 ft.lb. with a nitrous shot.

Also keep the ignition timing down to 25 degrees max. on a KZ making significant
power on gasoline (or pay the consequences).

Regards,
Bob

Subject: [turbobike] "split head"

Hi Shammar
Thanks for the tips.
A splitting head !!! Oh my GOD,doesn`t sound nice.I think it was bad enough, when
my top-end spat (spit ?) out a sparkplug.
Regarding "shims under",is the performance increase over softer cams really big
enough to justify the hazzle when you`re adjusting the valves ???
And besides the work, the threadholes(to hold the cams)isn`t the most robust(not
on my top-end anyway).
Any "super tips" with cam degreeing ?,I`ve tried 108/113 (in/ex)on std. cams, but
it doesn`t seem to make much of a difference.
Jesper
