Funny thing, that damn KZ oil pressure (or lack of it).
My solution to the problem was buying an EGLI oilpan + pump. The pump =
gives 30 % more pressure and the deep sump pan holds 1 Litre more =
oil,but even with the "oilpan gate" installed I sometimes loose the =
pressure under acceleration. But my Rayjay turbo is still as good as new =
after 50.000 miles,bought the MR.Turbo kit in 1983.
About carburation, glad you mentioned the HSR-carb.I ordered mine from =
MR.Turbo last
year, and it is by far the best carb` i have tried (let me see,it must be =
the tenth carb im trying)
still not quite perfect, but there`s nothing wrong with the HSR(okay it =
does`nt fit),but rather the distribution problems in the manifold and =
the damn cold weather here in Denmark.
I`m amazed about those KZ with 30 psi,even with water/methanol =
injection,retarded ignition,overrich mixture etc. i`ve still have =
detonation problems running 17-18 psi.Okay honestly I usually only =
boosting 9-11 psi,that way my KZ is more "harmonious" (!!!) ahh-remember =
the handling :-)
My engine is now 1327 cc,so the torque makes it fun to drive.I`ve using =
the standard top-end,camshaft,valvesize so the bhp fades after 6500-7000 =
rpm,but it`s fun to be able to start in fifth gear.Another irritating =
problem with the KZ is that damn alternator/magnet-rotor comes loose,so =
i`m unable to use the startermotor,it`s not a big Harley but it still =
hurts when it`s kick back using the kickstarter.Being a KZ-rider for 21 =
years,it`s good to hear that others are using that old dinosaur.
By the way,i`m am a new subscriber too this newsgroup,I=B4m really =
enjoying it.
I=B4m from Denmark so please excuse the spelling/grammar :-)=20
